Fennec Members
Memberships on your own Stripe account. 0% transaction fees, forever.
Free, one-time and recurring membership levels, content restriction that doesn’t leak, and Stripe Checkout on your own API keys. There’s no platform in the middle, so there’s no cut of your revenue, in the free plugin or in Pro.
Version 1.0.0. Not on WordPress.org yet: upload the zip under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
The free plugin
Everything here is free. No license key, no locked buttons.
This list is the free plugin as it runs today, taken from its readme. If it isn't shipped, it isn't on this list.
Membership levels
Free, one-time or subscription (every N days, weeks, months or years) in any currency Stripe supports. Free and one-time levels can run for a fixed length.
0% transaction fees
Payments go straight to your Stripe account with your own keys. No Stripe Connect, no application fee, no revenue share.
Restrict content your way
Per post or page, whole categories and tags, or part of a page with the Members Only block or [fennec_members_only]. Visitors see a teaser and a join link.
No leaks
Restricted content is also hidden from the REST API, RSS feeds, search results and comments. Short posts are never given away whole by the teaser.
Join and checkout
A pricing table or single-level join form. Free levels create the account and email a set-password link. Paid levels use Stripe Checkout, so card details never touch your site.
Member account page
Members see their memberships and renewal dates, cancel at period end, and manage cards and invoices in the Stripe customer portal.
Verified Stripe webhooks
Renewals, failed payments and cancellations apply automatically. Signatures are checked, replays are refused, and each event applies once.
Members admin
Search and filter by level and status, add members by hand, revoke and reactivate, and export CSV that’s safe to open in spreadsheets.
Trials and plan changes
Free trials on subscription levels, and upgrades or downgrades between levels with Stripe proration previewed before the member confirms.
Failed-payment recovery
Retry-aware dunning emails that follow Stripe’s Smart Retries, a payments ledger per member, and a grace period before access ends.
Move from MemberPress or PMPro
Import levels, members and active subscriptions from MemberPress or Paid Memberships Pro, with a dry run first. Existing Stripe subscriptions keep billing without re-signup.
Members-only forms
With Fennec Forms, limit any form to members of chosen levels. Visitors without access see your join message instead of the form.
Member emails
Welcome, payment failed, cancelled and expiring soon. Plain text, each one can be switched off, and developers can rewrite them with a filter.
Built for automation
Suite events for activated, cancelled, expired and payment-failed, plus WordPress Abilities. Member status is personal data, so agents can’t see it unless you opt in.
Fennec Members Pro
Pro adds what busy sites need
Pro is a separate add-on plugin. The free plugin never contains locked code, and if a Pro license lapses, Pro keeps working. You only stop getting updates.
Billed yearly. 14-day refunds. Compare plans
Built and tested
Coupons
Percent or amount off, once, forever or for N months, with limits, expiry and level restrictions, applied through Stripe promotion codes.
Revenue reports
MRR, active members, new and churned members by month, churn rate, revenue by level and trial conversion, with CSV export.
Team seats
A group owner buys seats, invites members by email and manages them from their account page.
Member pauses
Let members pause and resume their own subscription instead of cancelling.

Figures were checked on each vendor’s own pages on October 6, 2026 (the same sources as our alternatives pages). MemberPress charges 0% only on its higher Growth and Scale plans; Launch is $399/yr, half price in the first year. On a $10/month membership with 500 members, a 4.9% fee is about $2,940 a year. “Not listed” means we couldn’t confirm it on the vendor’s own pages. Sources: MemberPress fee FAQ, PMPro Stripe docs.

The fee math
What a 4.9% fee costs a $10/month membership
Percentage fees look small on one payment. Over a year they add up to more than any Fennec Members Pro plan. With Fennec Members, that column is always $0.
| Members | 4.9% fee per year | Fennec Members |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | $588 | $0 |
| 500 | $2,940 | $0 |
| 1,000 | $5,880 | $0 |

Members questions
Does Fennec Members take a cut of my payments?
No. Not in the free plugin, not in Pro, not ever. You pay Stripe’s normal processing fees and nothing else.
Do I need Stripe?
Only for paid levels. Free levels, restriction, manual members and the account page work without any payment provider.
What happens when a renewal fails?
Stripe retries the card. Meanwhile the membership shows “Payment due”, the member keeps access and gets an email asking them to update their card. If Stripe gives up, the membership ends. You can lock members out sooner with one filter.
Can I test without real payments?
Yep. Use Stripe test mode and test cards. Test and live keys are stored separately.
Can I download it today?
Yes. Download the free plugin from this page and upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. It isn’t on WordPress.org yet, so for now new versions are downloaded here too.
Does it work with page caching?
Yes. Logged-out visitors all see the same restricted version, so caching them is safe. If your cache also caches logged-in users, exclude members-only pages.
